High Court Grants Bail To Drama Artist Accused Of Throwing Acid On Co-Artist To Eliminate Competition: Karnataka High Court

The Bench, in the case of Swathi v.  State of Karnataka(8209/2022) led by Justice K Natrajan has granted bail to a woman who allegedly, with a view to take revenge and spoil another woman co-artist’s chances in getting roles in dramas, threw acid on her face.

FACTS OF THE CASE

The Karnataka High Court has released a lady on bail after she was accused of throwing acid on a fellow actress’s face in an act of vengeance intended to damage her prospects of being cast in upcoming shows.

In the FIR, the Petitioner is the third identified suspect. According to the prosecution, she plotted with the other two defendants to make the victim ugly by throwing acid in her face. It is stated that the three then travelled to her residence, where the first defendant attacked her with cleaning acid as she slept.

JUDGEMENT BY THE COURT

In the case registered by the Nandini Layout Police Station for the offenses punishable under Sections 326A, 448 read with Section 34 of IPC, on execution of a personal bond for a sum of Rs.5,00,000, with two sureties for the like s, Justice K. Natarajan allowed Swathi’s petition and directed the Committal Court to release her on bail.
