Mehrauli demolition drive: Delhi High Court grants interim relief (for now) in 15 petitions

The Delhi High court passed a judgement on 14th    February, 2023. This was seen in the case of   MEHRAULI MINORITIES RESIDENT AND SHOP OWNERS WELFARE ASSOCIATION v. GOVERNMENT OF NCT OF DELHI & ORS. 2023/DHC and he case was presided over by Hon’ble  Justice Mini Pushkarna

FACTS OF THECASE:

 In this case petitioners filled a plea in court to stop the demolition drive of DDA. DDA  is reportedly carrying out a demolition drive in muhrauli to clear encouraged forest land ahead of the next month’s G20 meeting 

ORDER OF THE COURT

 The delhi hc ordered the DDA to halt it’s demolition drive till february 16 in mehrauli archaeological park area with respect to certain properties whose owner have approached the court The authority has said that the drive is intended to clear the unauthorised encroachments on the government’s land, which houses protected monuments of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).

However, the drive has led to many people being left without homes and many people have approached the Delhi High Court seeking relief. And this petition is now before a division bench head by chief justice Satish chandra Sharma.
