Patna High Court imposes three state universities VCs to pay Rs.5K cost in PIL over delay in exams conduct, declaring result

In this case while dealing with a PIL filed over delay in conducting exams and declaration of result Patna High Court imposes Rs.5k cost on VCs of 3 University from their own pocket. The case was Vivek Raj V/S State of Bihar and others [CWJ Case No. 11984 of 2022]. The case was presided over by Chief Justice Sanjay Karol and Justice Partha Sarthy.

Facts of the Case

  1. The PIL(Public Interest Litigation) was filed by petitioners Vivek Raj,Saurav Kumar and shwet Kumar through Advocate Shashwat.
  2. The PIL was about the conduction of exams and declaration of results of PG and UG exams in the time bound manner as per the guidelines of the UGC of 10 Universities.
  3. Out of 10 universities 7 universities submitted their response about the conduct of exam and declaration of results, but 3 universities had not submitted the response about the conduction of exam and declaration of result.

Judgment

The court fined the three universities who failed to respond regarding the conduct of exam and declaration of results within the time bound manner. The court fined the VCs of 3 universities with Rs.5K cost from their own pocket.
